I think I see where you&#039;re coming from but US sport is surely no more than a surrogate for global passions. It&#039;s interesting but it doesn&#039;t travel does it? How can you explain the conceit of calling a national contest the World Series?
I hear what you&#039;re saying, and I agree that sport is a modern metaphor for primal passions but you don&#039;t have to justify yourself quite so fervently. The history of sport is fascinating in itself, a rich vein that flows through the human psyche, enjoy yours even if it is wrapped up in the US interpretations of the creed.
